In response to Council direction, citizen concerns and Administration initiatives, the City has established three teams that are dedicated to infill related work.

Infill Liaison Team

The Infill Liaison Team launched in August 2016 and is currently comprised of three planners. The team’s role is to advance the City’s infill conversations through outreach and education, coordinate internal infill work, analyze infill issues and complaints, serve as a point of contact for infill questions and support ongoing policy development.

Infill Compliance Team

On March 22, 2016, City Council directed City staff to create an integrated inspection and enforcement team that will perform routine inspections at infill sites in mature neighbourhoods.

The Infill Compliance Team is comprised of two Community Standards Peace Officers and a Development Compliance Officer to ensure that all types of issues can be addressed on site. The team is working together to inspect and monitor active infill sites and have already begun proactive inspections.

Citizens can report issues on infill construction sites to the City of Edmonton 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Contact us by phone at 311 - in Edmonton or 780.442.5311 - outside Edmonton or by email at 311@edmonton.ca

Infill/Mature Neighbourhood Overlay (MNO) Team

Since 2015, the Infill/Mature Neighbourhood Overlay (MNO) team of six planners and one principal planner has been in place to review and approve infill development permit applications. Infill applications are complex in nature and require ongoing communication between applicants, home builders and community members.

The RIDA team is available to applicants to answer technical questions regarding interpretation and implementation of Zoning Bylaw regulations. From 2015 to date, this team has reviewed over 4700 applications.
